Ristorante Buca di San Francesco

Dal 1929

A symbol of three eras: the pastries room with elegant Louis XVI
furnishings by Valabrega; a coffee room with a 1920s bar and a
baroque stuccoed ceiling in pastel shades; a room with Art Deco
and rationalist overtones made after 1930. All, including the
perfect window, splendidly restored. The founders of Fiat and
Lavazza used to come here; Luigi Einaudi, the second President of
the Italian Republic, used to sit and read; Cesare Pavese would
write and meet with the publisher Giulio Einaudi. For decades this
is where students at the Liceo D’Azeglio, which spawned many of
Turin’s top managers, came to celebrate the ritual of hot chocolate.
