Set up in 1850 in Palazzolo sull’Oglio by the Balzer family, who were originally from Lichtenstein, it moved in 1936 to its current location under the arcades of the “Sentierone”. Since then it has been the salon of Bergamo, the most elegant place for a rest on the Sunday promenade. With its tradition of delicious pastries, such as the “Donizetti”, and its “Polenta e osei”, people drop in for a coffee before or after Mass at San Bartolomeo, or for a buffet meal in the Aurora room. All in the finest tradition of Italian hotelery. The world of culture that gravitates around the city is always at home here, as is that of economics and politics.
