Originally an unsophisticated tavern on the port, it took its name from the music that Livorno composer Mascagni created for his opera 'Silvano'. The delightful 1930s building is now home and shrine to the authentic 'cacciucco', the unruly fish soup that is unrivalled anywhere and enjoyed by countless celebrities. In 2005, a long-standing friendship with Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, President of the Republic, led to the preparation of his eighty-fifth birthday banquet in Rome. Now in the hands of the third generation.
