The Red Cross insignia on the shutters of the café was due to the fact that the owners were Swiss so during the war it was declared a neutral zone. An elegant and well-preserved meeting place for free-thinking men, since the beginning of the last century the Defilla is known for its cultural and social activities and is referred to as a literary café.
