It has served wine of tithes of the nearby Duomo since 1743. The pouring had to take place before dark to respect silence. That is how the name "dark host" was born. It was favourite by Archdukes Eugen and Franz Ferdinand on Este. Original paintings, ancient weapons and glass decorate the "stube". The "Künstlerstübele" was the place where Tyrolean artists Defregger and Bachlechner used to meet. The same family has been managing the place since 1904, three generations.
