The Neapolitan "Loggia" of the latter part of the 19th century, this was the political center of the city. Journalists, lawyers, artists and politicians chose Gambrinus as their meeting place. During the Fascist era, a part of the building was transformed into a bank. But in 2001 the Gambrinus won back the halls overlooking Piazza del Plebiscito, with their splendid gallery of 19th-century frescoes and Neapolitan paintings.
