Seven generations. As early as 1760, the Register of Hoteliers in the Duchy of Lucca recorded that Erasmo Marcucci served fried fish from the Serchio river and offered a change of horses and accommodation. It was then the “Trattoria La Presa dell’Acqua” – the trattoria by the water source. The poet Giovanni Pascoli, with his calèche, used to stop by and, before he became famous, in the kitchen they washed away Lorenzo Viani’s drawings from the back of the plates! Soldati, De Sica, Lollobrigida, Mastroianni and Monicelli all loved the place. The original building with its age-old plane trees, and its ancient documents are all beautifully preserved. The recipes are those of Lucca tradition.
