Heir to the nineteenth-century Piatti pastry-shop, this is the paradise of “Nocciolini” (originally “Noasetti”), exquisite and simple pastries with Piedmontese hazelnuts, sugar and egg-white, which the founder Luigi Bonfanti made known throughout Italy. A historic meeting place in the town, it is an entirely original Art Nouveau gem, with marbles, mirrors, bars and finely decorated panelling in Piedmontese walnut. Run by the third generation of two families, the traditional kitchen makes time-honoured recipes including Chivasso tomato jams.
