Ice-cream shop café Fiorio
Every morning, before attending to State business, Carlo Alberto of Savoy would ask his counsellors what was being said at Fiorio, for this was the meeting place of the most influential, iron-fisted conservatives, who viewed liberty as a slow civic conquest which the masses needed to be trained for in order not to destroy it. It was a favourite haunt of Cavour, Rattazzi, and D'Azeglio, and from 1930, anti-Fascists would meet in the "Il Vagone" room. An eighteenth/nineteenth-century atmosphere with a 1920 counter in yellow marble and a Liberty-style entrance porch at the side. It holds the secrets of Turin's most famous ice creams, which were adored by Nietzsche.
