Opened by descendants of the Potepans, the Viennese liquor makers, it has lost none of its late-nineteenth-century "bottega da vino" atmosphere, where drinking is a pleasure amid its old casks. The Liberty style can be seen in the counter, the length of the shop itself, and in the striped wall decoration, faithfully recreated after a part was discovered behind a mirror during renovation in 1990-92. Set in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Mastini, its superb drinks include Rosolio, Zabaione and Amaro '900 of Austro-Hungarian inspiration, making it a favourite of connoisseurs the world over.
