A café in the nineteenth century, and then a confectioners’ with a liqueur store and a “Supplier to the Royal House of Savoy”, Barberis is the shrine of sweet delicacies in Valenza, and the historic meeting place for great families of jewellers. In 2006 it had to abandon its original premises. The new rooms have preserved the elegant wooden panelling that date from its origins and none of the tradition and passion of its original recipes, created over a hundred years, has been lost. They include the tartufata, macaroons, ladyfingers and panfrutto, a cake without butter invented during the war.
