A former peasant-family home – still with original nineteenth-century furnishings – this gem of the Dolomites stood on the Royal Imperial Road of Alemagna, linking the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From 1836, when the Menardi family rented out oxen and horses to assist with haulage up to the Cimabanche Pass. They then turned it into an inn for cart drivers, with bedding on hay. Deported in 1917 to Italy, where he worked as a porter in a grand Florence hotel, grandpa Luigi then decided to turn the inn into a boarding house. With a park, wellness centre and three generations of class.
